Annual Reports

JUDICIAL COUNCIL:

Part XI of the Supreme Court of Judicature Act, Cap. 117A of the Laws of Barbados established a Judicial Council which, is mandated by section 93(1) of the Act to be responsible for the administration of the courts of Barbados.

Section 93(4) mandates the Judicial Council to:

  • (a)prepare for each calendar year a report on all matters relating to the administration of justice, outlining progress made and any problems anticipated; and
  • (b)submit the report to the Attorney General no later than the 31st March following the calendar year in respect of which the report is prepared.

On receipt of the report of the Judicial Council the Attorney General shall forthwith table same in Parliament.

REGISTRATION DEPARTMENT:

Part II of the Vital Statistics Registration Act Cap 192 mandates the Registrar to collate, publish and distribute such statistical information regarding births, deaths, still-births, adoptions, marriages, divorces and changes of names registered during any period as he may consider to be necessary and in the public interest.

FAMILY COUNCIL:

The Second Schedule to the Family Law Act, Cap. 214 mandates that the Family Law Council established by section 92 of the Act, “shall within 3 months after the end of each year furnish a report of its operations to the Attorney General for laying in Parliament”.
