Practice Directions are governed by Part 4 of the Civil Procedure Rules, 2008 and may only be issued by the Chief Justice after consultation with the judges.

Practice Directions may be issued in any case where provision for such a direction is made by the Rules. Where no express provision is made in the Rules for such a direction, the Chief Justice may give directions as to the practice and procedure to be followed in the Supreme Court.

CPR Rule 4.3 provides that Practice Directions must be published in the Official Gazette and displayed and made available for sale in the Registry.
